Spring 2023 Term Recap: Orientation, Job Fair, and More!

As we wrap up the 2023 Spring Term, the Web team would like to take a look back on some of the events and happenings that has taken place on campus this semester. From our ACtivate – New Student Orientation, to major events like our Job Fair, and everything in-between, we want to recap what happened this semester as we look towards the next.

Here are some of the highlights:

ACtivate – New Student Orientation

Our semester starts with New Student Orientation, also known as ACtivate! This four-day event gives new students a chance to familiarize themselves with the campus and the services offered at AC in order to succeed in their studies.

New Student Orientation also features snacks, workshops, and games which make orientation both informative and fun. We hope ACtivate will continue to be the first step in our students’ journey at Alexander College!

AC Job Fair

Hosted by the Career Advising department, the annual AC Job Fair is a popular event amongst the student body as it provides students the valuable opportunity to connect with employers from various industries ranging from hospitality to sports.

This time, over 14 companies were present at the Job Fair and we couldn’t be more proud to witness the massive turnout! We even managed to interview some of the employers to get their insight on what to wear for interviews and what job seekers should keep in mind when applying for jobs.

Chess Club

Did you know Alexander College has a Chess Club? Chess is a classic strategy game originating from the 19th century. Unlike a lot of modern board games, chess features no elements of chance, making it one of the most popular games in the world and a good test of one’s ability to strategize.

The AC Chess Club meets every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm, only going on break for final exams.

Workshops

Unsure how to prepare for course registration? At Alexander College, we want to make sure our students succeed in their academic journey which is why the Academic Advising department hosts informative workshops to ensure students are prepared for course registration.

Along with Academic Advising, other departments such as Career Advising also host workshops throughout the year to make sure students are ready for what’s ahead!
