Research Guide: Film Studies

Film 101 examines selected historical and aesthetic developments in world cinema, with an emphasis placed on learning how to appreciate the medium of film.  Students will become familiar with and learn to critique various directorial styles and film genres. The cultural, artistic and political contexts of national cinematic movements are also examined.

The library’s collection of film books is another excellent place to start your research. Here are just a few our film books organized by subject so please ask any of the librarians if you need help finding a book on your topic.
