The Writing and Learning Centre is pleased to continue our workshop series for the Spring 2021 semester.
WLC’s Workshop Wednesdays will cover a broad range of topics designed to improve your academic skills, including thesis statement writing, integrating sources, paraphrasing and summarizing, computational problem-solving, and so on.
There will be joint workshops with the Alexander College Library, Career Advising, Academic Advising, and the Alexander College Student Association on topics such as becoming a research rockstar, crafting resumes and cover letters, course registration and graduation requirements, as well as the student life experience at Alexander College.
For some workshops, you will need to download supplementary materials beforehand, so be sure to check the Workshop Wednesdays Canvas course prior to the day of your selected workshop.
During the workshops, you will have the opportunity to take part in fun discussions and complete hands-on learning activities. If you would like to revisit the workshop materials at any point, they will be available through the Workshop Wednesdays Canvas course.
There will be four different workshops every Wednesday starting in Week 2 (May 12th, 2021) and ending in Week 8 (June 23rd, 2021).
The workshops will take place at 8:00am-9:00am, 10:00am-11:00am, 12:00pm-1:00pm, and 4:00pm-5:00pm. The workshops will be held virtually over zoom.
Registration is first-come, first-serve, so make sure to sign up early through the Workshop Wednesdays schedule (Schedule 06) in WCOnline to guarantee your spot!
By attending a workshop with your camera on, you will be granted one entry for two prize draws to win $100 gift cards. The prize draws will take place at the middle and end of the semester. Prize winners will be notified via email.
If you attend 10 or more workshops (not including repeats) with your camera on, you will be awarded an academic skills certificate signed by the Alexander College Provost and Director of Student affairs. This would be a great addition to your resume.
