    My role as Registrar primarily involves the development and application of policy and procedures in a number of functional areas, primarily those related to: admissions, registration, and continuation, articulation and credit transfer, dates and scheduling, student records and grades.

    As Coordinator, Office of the Registrar, I process new student applications at the Burnaby campus, keep our records up to date, and assist students with a variety of registration related requests. I also help to coordinate the day-to-day functions of the department to ensure that processes are effectively run.     Deciding what class to take can be challenging. At Alexander College we want to ensure that students are enroled in the classes best suited for their academic skill level. The placement test helps determine what class a student needs to take based on their knowledge and abilities in the areas of English, Math, and Chemistry. My job is to administer the placement tests. I often work with international students or students who are beginning their post-secondary education. I enjoy welcoming students into our college and helping them get started with their academic studies. Please e-mail me for times and further information.

    Whether you are a prospective student or a current student, I can provide you with information regarding admission requirements, enrolment and registration, and program benefits. I offer guidance in course selection in keeping with the student’s interests, values, and abilities; explain school policies and procedures; identify options for students to satisfy specific degree requirements; and advise students on academic and personal issues. As a member of the AC marketing department, I also help to develop and maintain relationships with education agencies and immigration consultants. I look forward to meeting with you.

    As a Liaison Officer, I provide consultation for existing or prospective students with their application, course selection, and registration. As a former international student, I myself experienced the local education system. Now, I enjoy helping students from varied cultural backgrounds, drawing upon my own personal experience and knowledge. I am fluent in English and Mandarin. In addition to assisting students, I am also a member of the Marketing Department. I connect with local agencies, and also travel to China to foster connections with overseas agencies and international students.     As a Liaison Officer, I provide consultation and guidance for current and/or prospective students at Alexander College. As a former international graduate, I have experienced the Canadian education system, which has let me connect with students from different cultural backgrounds; and due to my experience, I have found joy in helping them at any time. Also, I’d like to mention that I am fluent in both English and Spanish Languages. In addition to assisting students; I am also part of the Marketing Department here at Alexander College.     Library staff can support you in your studies by helping you locate and obtain information for your research papers. I can show you how to access library resources like journal databases, books, eBooks, and the internet. I can also assist you with tasks such as checking your course websites on AC Online, registering for courses, ordering official documents, as well as applying for a student card, provided that you bring some official form of photo identification (passport, driver’s license, or BC ID). From Monday to Friday, I am always happy to help, but to ensure that I will be available; I recommend that you contact me by email or phone to make an appointment. Finally, if you are looking for a good book to read for fun or to practice your reading skills, stop by the library and I can recommend something!     My name is Hermine and I am the Writing & Learning Centre Manager. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and a Master’s Degree in English Creative Writing. I am an experienced EAP/ESL teacher who has taught in Vancouver, Japan and Taiwan at various universities and business institutions. I have a background in philosophy and sociology but I am happy to assist with any humanities and social science courses here at Alexander College.     One of the things that distinguishes our Writing & Learning Centres is the certified instructors who make up our academic writing and humanities team. Many of them are also English instructors here at the College. Our academic writing team members can help you with academic writing (organizing your research, structuring your essays, grammar, flow of ideas, citations, etc.) and humanities (understanding course material and preparing academic essays in these subjects). Find us on the Academic Writing and Humanities schedules at our Burnaby and Vancouver campuses.

    As a Professional Wellness Counselor, I strive to provide students with support and advocacy throughout their experience with Alexander College. I provide a safe and supportive environment that helps students develop trust and gain insight into their concerns. Students can come to me to discuss any concerns over anxiety, depression, relationships, loneliness, substance misuse or other personal matters. I also help those students who are struggling to adjust to life in Vancouver, and or to meet their health and wellness goals. Together we develop a plan that meets their needs and helps them cope with their problems.
