The Alexander College Library plays a key role in achieving the educational directives of the college by serving as an information centre in which students engage in academic, cultural and social activities.
The Library is dedicated to providing the highest level of resources (whether traditional or digital) and instructional services so students and faculty can perform research, study, and surf the web with confidence.
Services are thus patron-oriented, and are under constant re-evaluation to ensure they are up-to-date and responsive. In this way, staff and students can get the most out of the resources available to them.
To fulfill its role in supporting the College’s educational mission, AC Library is committed to maintaining an environment conducive to study and research.
To ensure a quiet, pleasant, safe, clean, and respectful atmosphere for all users, the Library has established the following policies regarding the use of its facilities and collections. Policies shall apply to all users, regardless of their affiliation with the College.
To learn more about library policies please visit the policy page.

Students can borrow materials from the Library by presenting the Library desk with their Student ID. Students without a Student ID can also present Library staff with a government-issued ID (passport, BC ID, BC driver’s license).
Most items in the collection can be borrowed for 21 days (3 weeks)! Textbooks can be borrowed for three hours at a time, and previous edition textbooks can be borrowed for 1 week (7 days). For more information on loan times, click here.
Yes, you can renew most materials by calling, emailing or visiting the library. Students are not able to renew textbooks or laptops. If you questions about renewing materials, please contact us.
Students are able to renew their book as long as they call or email the library before or on the day that it is due.
If you return a book late, you may receive a fine. The fine depends on the type of loan (for a list of fines, click here).
Fines will continue fines each day the book is late. Students with overdue materials or fines on their account will not be able to check out any materials from the Library until they have settled their fine or brought back the overdue material.
If you are enrolled in courses, you are eligible to receive a student ID card. All you need to do is bring a government issued piece of photo ID (a passport, BC ID, BC driver’s license) to the library.
Be ready to give your student number and one class you are enrolled in to confirm your enrolment. Printing a card is free for the first time. If you are looking to replace a lost ID, a replacement fee of $25 has to be paid through MyAC. For more information, see the Student ID page.
