Academic Scholarships

In order to better recognize academic excellence within each subject area in each major term (Fall, Winter, Spring), Alexander College has established a set of Academic Scholarships to be awarded to the strongest students within each discipline.

Selected recipients are awarded with a $1200 scholarship following each regular term (i.e., excluding Summer Intensive). The scholarships will be in the form of a tuition credit unless the student has no upcoming tuition payments; in such cases, the student will be provided with a cheque for the scholarship amount.

Students cannot apply for this scholarship, rather they must be nominated by their course instructor at the conclusion of the relevant term.

  3. Have at least a CPGA of 2.67 in a minimum of 9 credits (Credit requirement waived for EAP scholarships only).

A student cannot receive more than one academic scholarship in the same term.

Nomination Procedure:

  1. Instructors in the relevant subject areas are notified thrice in the term (outset, mid-point, pre-finals) by the Office of the Registrar about award availability for their subject area (as per the rotation schedule) and the nomination process.
  2. Students are nominated by their Instructor immediately after final grades are entered in that term. Nomination is voluntary.
  3. Each instructor teaching a course section within one of the five-six subject areas offering scholarships during this past academic year may nominate a qualified student. Instructors may nominate more than one student per section.
  4. The instructor nominates the student by returning the completed nominee template to the Office of the Registrar department. See nomination email template at the bottom of this document.
  5. The Office of the Registrar will filter the nominees in order to check their CGPA. Only who meet eligibility requirements are included in the final report, organized by subject area.
  6. The completed Nominee Report is forwarded to all relevant Department Head for selection.
