Alexander College stands by academic integrity and ensures that its students adhere to the same values. Being formally accused of plagiarism has significant consequences to the course in which you are enrolled and, potentially, to your academic life. More information about Academic Integrity as well as about the consequences of an academic alert can be found here.

If you received an academic alert and strongly believe that it was filed against you in error, you may file an Academic Appeal. The Academic Appeal form is available for download online (above). Submit the form via email to srr@alexandercollege.ca, together with attached evidence, within 10 calendar days of the notification email from Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Below are the examples of an acceptable evidence to attach when appealing an academic alert:

  1. Outline, drafts, notes to show progression of work, etc. – for the assignment that resulted in Academic Alert;
  2. Articles in PDF format which you referenced in your assignment;
  3. Assignment requirements as received from instructor;
  4. Any other proof that can positively affect the outcome of your appeal.

The presented evidence will be carefully considered before the final decision is made. No appointments will be arranged during the appeal process and/or after the decision has been made. Failure to abide by the decision is grounds for a behavioural misconduct (refer to Behavioural Misconduct Policy).

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work in this territory.
