2024 Fall New Student Orientation Recap

Written by Alexander College in School News on August 30, 2024

Every term, we welcome new students to Alexander College with our New Student Orientation! Hosted by the Student Life department, NSO aims to introduce new students to various Alexander College student support services and more importantly, other students!

Of course, we captured the Fall 2024 New Student Orientation in photos, videos, and student interviews so students can look back on their first steps of their academic journey at Alexander College.

2024 Fall New Student Orientation

Every NSO we welcome students with a half day filled with informative workshops, fun activities, free lunch, and more!

Familiarizing yourself with the campus and services before classes start reduces a lot of stress students can have trying to figure out everything on the first day.

New students are also given a goody bag containing some items including a schedule and a pamphlet containing a scavenger hunt.

Q. How is your New Student Orientation going so far?

“I love the environment. I just love how welcoming they are and I’m so excited to start learning!”

All of the students we interviewed agreed that NSO is a fun and welcoming experience. Some have already made new friends!

Q. What are you looking forward to at Alexander College?

“I look forward to socializing with new people, making friends, and exploring Canada.”

The vast majority of students want to meet new people and practice their English skills. Students also mentioned wanting to enjoy a busy school life and exploring the newfound freedom from being an international student.

Q. What are you looking forward to in Vancouver?

“The weather, because, for example, in Colombia we don’t have seasons, so maybe it’s going to snow soon…. In Colombia we only have raining and sunny and that’s it.”

Our new students are particularly excited about being able to explore nature in Canada and finding hidden gem spots in Vancouver. One student is looking forward to experiencing the different seasons of Canada!

Welcome to Alexander College!

Attending a new school is always a mixed bag of emotions, especially if you are an international student. That’s why we hope through our New Student Orientation, students can walk into their first day of classes confident and ready to learn.

If students have any questions, our staff and faculty are always willing to help and we have a suite of student support services that are designed to help students succeed on their academic journeys.

We wish you the best of luck in your studies and we hope you enjoy your time here at Alexander College!
