Saori from Japan on Life in Canada and Pursuing a Business Degree

Today we will be featuring one of our students from Japan, Saori! Saori is currently studying towards an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in business.

With previous experience working in the business sector back in Japan, she has come to Canada to pursue further education in commerce and economics.

Life in Canada

One of the reasons Saori chose to study in Canada is because of how safe Canada is as a country.

“I’ve been here for about a year and I’ve never worried about my safety. It seems to be almost as safe as Japan!”

Another reason why Saori enjoys living in Canada is just how many international students she is able to meet. Alexander College, with its students coming from all around the world, is an excellent place to learn about different cultures.

Giving Back at AC

In the 4 semesters that Saori has been studying at AC, she has given back to AC community by working as a student worker – a job opportunity she learned about after attending a Career Advising session.

Not only does she help others out as a student worker, Saori was recently elected as the Wellness and Advocacy Representative of the Alexander College Student Association (ACSA).

As the Wellness and Advocacy Representative, Saori makes sure students know about the various mental health resources that are available at AC.

Advice for Current and Future Students

“Ever since I’ve been here, professors and staff members are always eager to help you!”

When it comes to future students wanting to study in Canada, Saori recommends setting goals and taking steps to achieve them, even before arriving in Canada.

For new and current students, she recommends reaching out to any support you can get from Alexander College.
