Final Exam Reminders

Written by Alexander College in School News on June 19, 2024

This term, we are making some changes to the campus rules to enhance the final exam experience for our students. Last semester, we limited access to the hallways to minimize distractions and ensure a noise-free environment for exam takers.

Writing exams in complete silence is beneficial as it helps improve concentration, reduces stress, and enhances overall performance.

To help our students focus, we will be strictly restricting access to the hallways each term. A staff member at the check point desk will monitor the number of students entering and exiting the hallways.

Bathroom passes will be limited for students studying in the lobby.

We strongly encourage students to find alternative study spaces during final exams to avoid any inconvenience.

Our top recommended spaces for studying

Public Libraries

Public libraries are excellent alternatives for studying. They offer quiet spaces and numerous resources: books, internet, and comfortable seating areas. Here are the closest public libraries to the ACB campus:

Cafes and Outdoor Spaces

Studying with friends at a nearby cafe can also be an effective way to prepare for exams.

Cafes often have a lively atmosphere that some students find motivating.

If the weather permits, studying in nearby parks can be a refreshing change. Take a blanket and enjoy studying outdoors.

ACB Library

The ACB library will be open for our students as well, although space is limited. It’s a good option if you prefer studying on campus to book the silent study room.

Alexander College Burnaby Library

We encourage students to double check their final exam schedules and review exam rules prior to taking final exams. Students can also book an appointment with our Health and Wellness Counselors if they wish to talk about any feelings related to final exams.

We wish you the best of luck on your exams!
