Surrounded by mountains while being located on the west coast of British Columbia, Vancouver offers stunning views. For those who love to spend time outdoors, Vancouver is the perfect place to explore in the warmer seasons.
Hiking is a popular activity enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, so we decided to take our students on a hike at Eagle Bluffs!
Eagle Bluffs, located in Cypress Provincial Park, offers a stunning view of Vancouver’s North Shore. The trail leading up to Eagle Bluffs traverses through Black Mountain and passes by Cabin Lake, making this trail a popular choice for a day hike.
After a bus ride from Alexander College, the students began their hike at the entrance of the approximately 7.9km trail.
As a moderate hiking route with significant elevation gain, some sections of the trail was still covered in snow, even in May! Luckily, as this is a popular area for hiking and running, the trail was well-maintained and the students were able to traverse the snowy areas without incident.
Did you know? Vancouver has at least 38 scenic trails which range from easy to difficult so hikers of all levels can enjoy trekking through nature.
Some trails are also bike and dog friendly! 🚲🐕
At 12:30pm the group stopped to have a quick lunch break before continuing to the summit where beautiful views awaited them.
Sitting at an elevation of approximately 1,094m, Eagle Bluffs provides a fantastic view of the natural scenery below!
Our students took some time to admire the scenery while also taking some memorable photos up on the rocky bluffs before it was time to return to the trailhead. From there, it was another bus ride back to Alexander College.
Hiking is one of the many activities you can enjoy in Canada. Not only is it a budget-friendly option to enjoy the outdoors, it can also be done solo or with a group of friends and family!
We hope that this blog encourages students to try hiking if they haven’t experienced it already and we hope to see more students at future events!
