It is your responsibility not to appear to be cheating and to come prepared for the exam. Breaking any exam rules will result in an academic alert, a zero on the exam, and additional consequences.
Alexander College is compliant with the Personal Information and Privacy Act (PIPA). Virtual classes and exams are recorded and stored by Alexander College solely for the purpose of ensuring quality of instruction. By entering these virtual classrooms, you are deemed to have consented to the recording of the class.
You will not be permitted to write an exam without your student ID card. If you forget your card, you can request an ID verification form at the front desk. You can apply for an ID verification only once during your studies at AC, and it is only valid for one day.
If you already applied for an ID verification form in the past and forget your ID card again, you will not be issued another one and will not be permitted to write the exam. You will be required to go home to get your ID card (30-minute exam rule still applies) or make a new one at the library for a fee.
In both cases you will have to apply for a Final Exam Deferral. If you miss / arrive late for an exam for a legitimate reason (e.g., medical condition), you must notify your instructor of your inability to attend the final exam, fill out a form, pay a fee at the bookstore, and attach evidence.
For non-legitimate reasons (e.g. misread exams schedule., forgot exam time, slept in), a deferral will not be approved.
Final exams are stored for one (1) calendar year after the term they were written in. If you wish to look at your exam, you can send an online request to the library by filling out the Exam Viewing Request Form. Please note that there may be a waiting period between the time when your exam is graded and when it is turned over to the library for storage. You will be notified via email when the exam is available for viewing. Once the library has received your viewing request and the physical exam, it can take between 24 hours and one week before your exam will be available for viewing. Please wait for the email notifying you that the exam is ready to view. Final exams are stored at the Burnaby (ACB) campus and will be held as available for viewing for up to seven (7) calendar days from the time you are notified.
Unfortunately, no exam re-writes are allowed.
First, you should attempt to resolve the disagreement by contacting your instructor. If you are not able to resolve the disagreement with your instructor, you may request a Grade Appeal.
Generally, final and midterm exams are conducted in person. However, your online class may not have an exam. So, please check your course syllabus for information on midterm and final exams.
Final and midterm exams are conducted in person for all classes. However, the instructor may issue an assignment rather than a midterm exam. So, even if you have a virtual class, you should be prepared to come to campus for your midterm and final exams.
