Finding Reliable Health Information Online

Use your critical reading skills and ask yourself these questions:

Who is the author? Are they qualified to write on this health–related topic? Can you verify their health credentials?

What does the resource say?

Can you verify facts? Are there citations? Does the website offer miracle cures? Be cautious of sites that claim to have a cure-for-all treatment.

When was it published?

Is this information up to date?

Where was it published?

Read the ‘about’ section of the website to verify what the website/organization does and purpose. Check the domain name to see if they are a government agency or commercial organization.
