What happens if I receive an Academic Alert?

First Academic Alert

When you receive your first Academic Alert, you will receive a zero on your assignment or exam. You will also be required to attend an Academic Integrity Workshop where you will learn about academic integrity, citation skills, and the resources that are available to all students at Alexander College.

Second Academic Alert

When you receive your second Academic Alert, you will receive a zero on your assignment or exam. No further remediation process is available to you. You will be warned that obtaining additional standard Academic Alerts may result in a one-term suspension.

Third Academic Alert

When you receive your third Academic Alert, you will receive a zero on your assignment or exam. You may also be suspended for one full term. If you are suspended, you may wish to contact an Academic Advisor to discuss your eligibility for UPRE courses and evaluate your academic goals for the term following your academic suspension.

If you are an international student, facing suspension or expulsion can also affect your student visa status. You may also want to contact Immigrants, Refugees and Citizenship Canada with regards to your student visa.

Fourth Academic Alert

When you receive a fourth Academic Alert, you will receive a zero on your assignment or exam and may also face expulsion. You will also be contacted by Student Rights and Responsibilities regarding your expulsion from the College.

If you are an international student, facing suspension or expulsion can also affect your student visa status. You may also want to contact Immigrants, Refugees and Citizenship Canada with regards to your student visa.

Alexander College acknowledges that the land on which we usually gather is the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work in this territory.
