What is an Academic Integrity Workshop?

The Academic Integrity Workshop is a learning opportunity for students to learn about academic integrity and citation styles. When students receive their first Academic Alert or whenever they receive a Type II Academic Alert, they are required to attend and complete an Academic Integrity Workshop, offered by the Writing and Learning Centre.

If you are required to attend an Academic Integrity Workshop, you will receive an email notification from the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities with more information. Please read the email carefully and ask your instructors, the Writing and Learning Centre, an Academic or Enrolment Advisor if there are any questions.

If students do not complete an Academic Integrity Workshop before the deadline mentioned in the email notification, they will face the following consequences:

  • A Registrar’s hold will be placed on the student’s account and the student will be prohibited from course registration and ordering official documents, such as transcripts.
  • A student may be considered for suspension or expulsion, depending on their record of prior Academic Alerts.

Alexander College acknowledges that the land on which we usually gather is the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work in this territory.
